LOVE FAKE? UT X miss maki nomiya

Bought this tee today. I also like the studded, knit and fringe versions, which you can see here. But I only saw studded and spangle at Uniqlo.

I love the LOVE FAKE? concept, and that it's the girl from Pizzicato Five.

Well I don't know very much about them, only that I have a couple of their albums in my iPod, and I like listening to their chirpiness. Plus their MVs are kinda weird/ old school/ cool.

Here's a song that always makes my head go bob bob bob.

Time flies when you're having fun. It usually takes longer for the clock to get to 4.30am but today it happened in an instant. I really ought to be asleep soon since I need to be up earlier. We're going to old Seletar camp for some picture taking.

Today we braved Uniqlo. Actually I expected it to be crowded but I did not think there would be a queue to enter.



Uniqlo was the maddest space in the entire crazy mall. Lots of aunties walked by and asked what we were queuing for.




It doesn't take long to get in because the mall people kept coming to tell the Uniqlo people that they can't let the queue block the washrooms, so they had to let customers in pretty rapidly. There are lots of cashiers and payment is fast too. But it's still madness in there.

Jil Sander in Tampines

So Jil Sander and Uniqlo have hooked up. (More here and here.)

Think of it this way. The first Uniqlo in this part of the world will soon throw its doors open at the new mall in Tampines. And Jil Sander will be hard at work spinning out more things to love. A few months down the road you'll be able to buy a little piece of Jil Sander in a suburban mall.

Uniqlo

Went to the website to check out the Alexander Wang collaboration and came away with this instead.

Stacks of colour placed together uniformly always seems so wonderful, even though I'm likely to buy the black tee in the lowest right corner, which I really do like. (This visual impact was what caused me to buy a pack of H&M socks back as well, when I don't even really wear socks. Weakness.) And the best thing is the illustrated poster, closer look below.

They remind me of retro sewing pattern drawings. I used to see this pattern books in my seamstress aunt's place and we might even have some at home because the mother used to do this for a living too. The images of these dolls on paper donning the finished product were, and still are, fascinating.

Incidentally, the pieces shown below look pretty current, don't they? We will probably be remembered as the era that dredged up the archives repeatedly to fill our retail racks and design aspirations.

Oh and about the Alexander Wang collaboration, my favourite is the trapeze dress with the tiny black vest looking thing slapped on the chest. Even though that is something my own chest will not allow to be carried off, unless my game plan is to get someone to give me their seat on the crowded train.
