I like the skirt

Fierce

Cos I feel like smacking someone.

Woollen bolero, leather bolero, panelled PVC trouser, striped sheer stocking - Gareth Pugh. Belt - Viktor & Rolf. Heeled sandals - Chloe. Bag, wallet, studded suede flats - Balenciaga. Shades - Tom Ford. Open-work jersey scarf - See by Chloe. Mascara - Lancome.

There're a lot of items here I love, but I really love the Viktor & Rolf belt. I've been looking for a wide belt that's wholly black and this, with its marvellous texture, is pretty close to perfect (I say close cos the two tiny spokes are still silver, see).

Just a set for fun

The Girl Who Loves Seamed Stockings

Jacket, skirt - Miu Miu. Seamed tights - Flirt for ASOS. Clutch - Marc Jacobs. Top, brollie -Topshop. Cuff - Argentum.

It looks a bit blah laid out but I can picture it all on a real person looking so cool. And I really, really adore the Miu Miu jacket. As well as Argentum.

The Inability To Live Without Mascara

Got my new tube of Clarins Fix Mascara today. Staff discounted. Happy.

I've oily lids and mascara tends to run after a few hours, leaving me with appalling undereye circles. Waterproof mascaras are slightly more helpful but unless they're sebum resistant, I will get a real shock in the mirror at the end of the work day.

I went through a phase of wearing super heavy mascara and it wouldn't have been possible without Fix Mascara. It's a clear gel mascara that is water and sebum resistant. You swipe it on as the last coat and that's it, smudge-free till at least after work, if not longer. Even after dinner, shopping and coffee, it will at most leave a smoky eye effect which can look pretty nice.

Also works as an eyebrow gel to smooth unruly sticking-out strays.

One thing I stupidly didn't do was clean the wand after each use. So my last tube became a dubious grey. Well I've learnt my lesson.

The One Who Wants It All

Oversized blouse - Vivienne Westwood Anglomania. Lace-up boot - ASOS. Wallet - Miu Miu. Bangles - Anna Lou at ASOS. False lashes - Shu Uemura. Jeans - Topshop. Brollie - Fulton. Brogues - ASOS. Blusher - M.A.C fafi. Scarf - McQ. Mini - Miu Miu.

Irresistible shoes + weak will + great discount = I have new pink shoes

In honour of this day:

Rumeur EDP - Lanvin. Nail colour, blusher - Laura Mercier. Bangles - Alexis Bittar. Clutch - ASOS. Top, jeans, shoes - Topshop.

Honestly, Polyvore is sucking up much of my life. I just knew I was right to resist it for so long. Now that I've caved, I can't stop. It's so addictive. I can 'own' anything I want on my items page. It's an endless virtual wardrobe. Help.

Anyway. Finally settled for Topshop jeans because the last time I bought jeans was years ago, and I really needed a pair to wear some tops with, and I also really need a pair to substitute denim skirt-wearing, and Topshop jeans really do fit me quite well, especially now that you can find designs that actually sit above the crotch.

Brilliant me also went all out to maximise my shopping dollar today. I exchanged UOB points for Wisma vouchers, and decided to be thick-skinned and call up my friend to use her staff discount. Most of the time I try not to do that and will choose to utilise the pathetic 10% F3 card instead, because I find it very horrid of myself to call her up always to ask for this favour and also, it's damn embarrassing at the cashier since I have to pass my mobile to whoever is ringing up my items so my friend can speak to them.

So yes. I try to avoid it except when I'm spending way too much. Like today. Cos the jeans are 116 and the shoes 159. After discounts and vouchers, I only paid 152.50 for everything. So you see now why I had to force myself to be thick-skinned.

Who needs pink shoes?

I want to say I don't. But it looked so bloody good with my navy blue tights (it's fate I was wearing blue today) and the chunky heel was so satisfyingly high and comfortable and my legs looked so long and my mind frantically ran through so many wardrobe possibilities in that instant I was trying them on I could not staring into the mirror.

I mean, I could swap the shoes from yesterday's set and do this:

Bag, Marni. Nail polish and mascara, Chanel. Everything else, Topshop.

Or this:

Top, Uniqlo. Belt, Miu Miu. Shades, Chloe. Everything else, Topshop.

I want, I want, I want...

Dammit.

The Obsession with Poofy Skirts

So the other day I was rather taken with this poofy little skirt at Topshop (Lido). It had horizontal stripes of various widths running across in cream and shades of blue. It had two oversized frilled pockets, one on each side. It was a cute skirt and as my friends said, it could be worn cute or vintage-ish.

But I don't do any of those. In my head, I was intent on decutifying and going along a more, shall I say arty farty look? Like the above. But in the end, I decided against that skirt cos of the lousy material. It was limp and tired when it would have been much better stiffer, thicker and with more saturated colours.

It's a good thing I did, because the next day, I was at Topshop again (Vivo) and I found the above skirt. I also caved in to a pair of extra long leggings because I tried it on - the fit was perfect and the fabric excellent.

I've been holding out on leggings for so long. But for someone with so many pairs of socks ranging from angle to to knee to above knee to thigh highs, and with tonnes of tights ranging from sheer shocking pink to sombre blacks, greys and dark purples, I suppose it was only a matter of time. So I gave in with a resigned sigh.

But I would never, never, NEVER do leggings at in-between lengths. I absolutely loathe that look, especially with blue denim minis. Is there any better way to stunt your body and make yourself look short, stumpy and completely disproportionate? No.

So they have to be long, covering the knobbly parts of the ankles or even down to half the feet like how Marni started it a couple of seasons ago.

(Just recalled that I have worn footless tights before. But ankle length with me pulling them down as long as they would go. The leggings look way better though.)

Anyway, it's a better skirt with better fabric and cut. Working on figuring out a top for it since I don't exactly have the above one from Miu Miu.

Something along these lines maybe?

Deliberately jewellery-free to keep the attention on the bigger picture.

The Banker Who Shops at Topshop

It has to be jodhpur or skinny pants for this to work. Polish could be blood red instead of black I guess. Just that I could not find a proper image to illustrate the shade of blood I like and also, it's a colour that's nice in theory but in reality, never works for me. I find that it ages one so, and only works on certain types.

Love the gladiator influenced heels. Pity I just can't do ankle straps that start that high.
