Gadgety

Ayumi Hamasaki's new album Next Level will also be released on this limited edition 2GB USB stick. I actually find it rather pretty but it's also rather pricey. Can be pre-ordered from yesasia if you wish.

NYT reviews Kindle version 2. I find it interesting to read about Kindle but I am still not sure I want to read on it.

I think it sounds amazing and the thought of carrying 1,500 books around with me actually has me very thrilled. It's my hoarding mentality. Like how I find the 30GB on my ipod way too little despite how I only regularly listen to less than 10 or mayb even five percent of the stuff in there. Or how I feel compelled to carry all my toy cameras with me when I was in Tokyo. It's the fact that you are carrying so many possibilities, and the chances of those times in life when you realise all that heavy bag-lugging, lopsided shoulders and aching neck muscles have been worthwhile because you have with you everything you suddenly need to create the moment you want.

Still, it's true. Real books can never be replaced. And you know, that actually adds to the appeal of the Kindle.

Although the most terrifying flaw of it has to be this:

But as traditionalists always point out, an e-book reader is a delicate piece of electronics. It can be lost, dropped or fried in the tub. You’d have to buy an awful lot of $10 best sellers to recoup the purchase price. If Amazon goes under or abandons the Kindle, you lose your entire library. And you can’t pass on or sell an e-book after you’ve read it.

That might just kill me.
