An SMS I sent right after I closed the book:
omg the age of innocence is so good i want to drag edith wharton fr her grave and ask her why the hell she ended it like that even though i know its the most perfect ending ever.
I finished the last pages on the train. I sat there, completely overwhelmed, my mind running over what I just read over and over again. My eyes were tearing as I stared into space and my heart was clenched and my stomach was in knots. It was unbearable. It was unbearable that Arthur walked away and yet it was perfect because no other ending would have left me so anguished and yet feel so right.
Just that I am old-fashioned.
