Orchard Road

ION gives me good vibes. It's large but not imposing. The size is right for its location and it's perched just far back enough in its corner of the junction to be admired. Though I wish they'd come up with a better idea than LED lights.

I like the widened sidewalk and the graceful broad steps leading up to the mall. But I don't understand why the sidewalk has been raised to such an inconsiderate level. It is significantly higher than the road with a steep lump of concrete serving as a slope. Maybe that means work in progress. Hopefully. Because I don't see how wheelchairs are going to go up and down that without help.

I don't like the silly glass panels that have been planted at regular intervals along the road. Do they serve a purpose? Because they sure as hell do not look good.

I like that the post office is still operational, despite the rest of being transformed into yet another watering hole.

Absolutely loathe Orchard Central, down to the core of my being, because it has not been designed considerately or in accordance with its surroundings. It looms unattractively over its neighbouring buildings and roads and casts oppressive shadows. It is a gigantic, clumsy oaf and does even have the benefit of being filled with interesting tenants. Or filled, for that matter.

Absolutely agree with you about Orchard Central - the layout is ridiculously convoluted and deminishes any effort to create a luxurious shopping experience for their level 2-3. Keeping my fingers crossed re ION ;)
