Tokyo Love Affair #2

You can find the niftiest, most wow-inducing digital cameras here. But Tokyo will not disappoint film camera lovers.

Camera Cabaret Grand Shop by the Superheadz people. Located in Shibuya near Beams. Looking for it was a headache but it was worth it.

Toy cams and lomographic cams galore. Plus the shop is really pretty and comfortable - you could stay and browse forever. So many things to examine.

Yodobashi film section is a must-go for film users. The price is standard ie. not cheap. But hey, it's like a supermarket chilled section stuffed full of film. You want to see it.

There are rows and rows of these machines for you to print out digital photos.

There are two Yodobashi's in Shinjuku. This is the other one. They sell film too, although it's a much smaller section.

This is the one with the above film section. Generally, trying to specific spots in Tokyo requires a lot of patience, time and energy. It's easier to try to find this place by using this map of Map Camera.

Map Camera has a lot of second hand and old cameras in various conditions. Almost bought an Olympus XA2 there but had some mind to ask the sales assistant if the camera is okay for use. Through my lousy Japanese and his lousy English, he managed to convey that either the viewfinder or lens is cloudy.

Apart from the above, I also visited Fujiya Camera located at Nakano. It's just a couple of stops away from Shinjuku station. There's a Fujiya Camera shop that does film processing just across the road from the station. Bought some cheap Konica Centuria there. Honestly, the branches selling cameras and accessories aren't that easy to find. Fastest to just ask the photo lab assistants. The lady was very kind and stepped out of the shop to walk me to practically the doorstep of the camera branch.

Got to thank my colleague C and her friend G for providing me with the info above.

I also stumbled upon a Leica shop in Shinjuku. Not cheap but again, stuffed full of cameras and very interesting for a look-see.
