Desolation



I find this part of Hougang rather scary depressing. Some bits of the neighbourhood were still inhabited while quite a number of blocks were already deserted. The smell of rot and garbage lingered in the air in some parts of the estate, particularly when you walk through void decks. Windows boarded up. Lifts switched off. Stairwells wet and dank and menacing. Despite the bright sunlight, everything seemed darker and gloomier. People stared, and not in a warm, curious manner. It was probably my imagination but they stared.

thanks, every time i look at the picts of the letterboxes, i can just almost smell that garbage smell that lingers in some of the void decks. all rather depressing.
