Statements

I like accessories, but I dare not spend too much on them simply because I am careless with them and tend to toss them around, leaving them tangled and susceptible to scratches. Not to mention how I tend to lose interest in an item after a while.

I'd like to think that if I am buying more expensive stuff, I'd be forced to be more appreciative and take better care of them. But somehow, I highly doubt it. My lone designer necklace (Chanel, a gift) is always entangled with my Topshop and Chatuchak buys. Perhaps it's because I didn't pay for it myself.

Digress. As I was saying, I like accessories and I lean towards items that make an impact. Which is also why I was so taken with Burberry Prorsum (spring, I believe) and Lanvin (fall, I think) while scanning through runway pix.

Lanvin, style.com

Lanvin, especially, was riveting because the necklaces were like nothing I've seen before. Strangely enough, when I saw the Autumn Winter collection from Vice & Vanity, I thought of the above Lanvin pieces. Strange because they don't look anything alike. And yet, and yet. They give me the same strange, cold, mechanised feeling.

Proceeded to look at the latest Spring Summer range as well and I have to say I am liking the latest two seasons rather a lot. Although I rather suspect these are pieces that look better on the stand than they will on me, particularly with the collar necklaces below - not at all easy to wear.

Looking at V&V made me think of Argentum. I fell breathlessly in love with the Spring Summer 05 collection and since then, have hoped to own a piece of the brand. The website has not been updated since the 06 collection and I have absolutely no idea what the brand is doing now.

As you may realise from the images I chose (the last is from Fall Winter 05), I love the hooks, chains and leather straps. It fascinates me how civilised they can look when made almost delicate. Rather like Anthony Hopkins' silky portrayal of Hannibal. Ruthless danger that inexplicably draws you helplessly in.
