She stepped into the queue and looked up briefly. He chose that moment to turn his head. Their eyes met with a jolt over the person sandwiched between them. Her gaze flickered and she cast her eyes downwards. He turned away.

He slid into the seat and looked up at her as she walked past. She resisted the urge to make eye contact and briefly entertaining the thought of sitting down beside him on the crowded bus.

She settled four seats back, diagonally across from him. She studied his back profile briefly before turning to the glass panel windows on her left and, chin in hand, concentrated her attention on his reflection.

Occasionally daydreaming, her attention would always return to his reflection, by then engrossed in a PSP. Ten minutes into the journey, the bus rolled to a stop and a number of people rose with a murmuring rustle to alight. Amidst the activity, he paused in his game and casually turned to sweep his eyes across the back of the bus and over her.

He stood at the exit, adjusting his t-shirt while waiting for the bus to come to a halt. She continued to examine him using the glass door, and was slightly disappointed that he did not seem to be paying any more attention to her.

He stepped off the bus and lifted his head precisely at the moment when he would pass her to look directly at her, perhaps knowing very well that her eyes were still trained on him. Startled to have been caught staring, she looked away quickly.

As the bus moved off and she could no longer feel his intense gaze, she smiled to herself and marvelled at the games people play.

random stranger at the bus interchange. suspect might be younger than us but the kind that looks mature for his age. still, yeah, cute. =D
