Started around 2 to 3am and didn't stop till when it was finished with at 7am. Didn't expect it to be such a page turner, but it was.
Being still awake at 7am, naturally the brain was slightly wonky from the tiredness. And images of a circus era gone by started to assault the head. Grit and dirt and sweat and pungent stenches of humans and animals and the noise of a thunderous train, thunderous applause and the stampede of huge animals.
The book mentions Ringling many times. A quick google throws out the Ringling Brothers Circus, founded in 1884 and one of the largest in the United States by the late 1880s.
